Questions Never Asked

Saturday, February 3rd, 2007 (Current Events, Culture, Questions Never Asked with 10 Comments)

Whenever I watch the local news or read the headlines in the various online news sources, I tend to notice that there are many questions never asked. Recently Texas passed a law that makes 11 year old girls receive injections for cervical Cancer/HPV virus mandatory if they want to be in school. What wasn’t mentioned in the report I saw on my local station was that the HPV virus is a sexually transmitted disease that causes cervical cancer. Throughout the sound-bite they naturally talk about how good of an idea it is. However they failed to ask:

What are the side effects of the decision?

What is this saying to little kids?

Unfortunately no one seems to be thinking this issue through. Telling your daughter she needs to get a shot for cervical cancer at 11 is like giving her birth control and walking off saying “they’re gonna do it anyway”. Sadly, too many people do this already.

Ultimately what this mindset is telling my generation is: “Okay hunny, We don’t want you to have relations before your time (marriage) but if you do here’s what you should have”. That reaction is not communicating love to a young adult. Rather it is a display of apathy in one of it’s worst forms - indifference. For a parent to be indifferent about their child’s life is telling their child that they don’t care.

While seemingly teens may want their parents not to interfere - you know you’re cared about when your parents sit you down and explain why abstinence is necessary rather than just giving you a pill.

Wait…What Happened to Separation of Church and State?

Thursday, January 11th, 2007 (Current Events, Government with 7 Comments)

*I find it ironic that the liberals and the media constantly hail separation of church and state as a good and natural way of life. Evidently they don’t bother to sit in on legislative sessions or judicial hearings. In each of these settings there is a blatant acknowledgement of God and Jesus Christ. When the Supreme Court and Congress conviene they start the session with prayer. Not to allah, or budah, or mohammed, but to Jesus Christ. Even in my  State’s General Assembly we open up each session with a 15 minute sermon and prayer.

Alot of people now have the mentality that the “Church” should stay out of the affairs of the “State”. However, if we continue to ignore the fact that we are One Nation Under God and were established as such, we will be - as Reagan put it - One Nation Gone Under.

The fact that even the government - at least the State Government - does acknowledge God on a daily basis leaves one to question just how “offensive” it is to be politically incorrect.

* Posting during session is by no means going to be frequent. The thoughts posted above are strictly those of the author and not the liberal media or General Assembly’s. *

2006: Year in Review

Sunday, December 31st, 2006 (Reviews, Current Events with 9 Comments)

2006 has been a very busy year, with midterm elections taking up a majority of it. Elections however, weren’t the only thing in the news this year. We had everything from “domestic spying”, to foiled Terrorist plots in England, Border control and amnesty, Scandals, Hezbollah attacking Israel, and finally justice for the Iraqi people.

Through it all, we’ve learned some very important things. One being let the intelligence community and military do their job without media interference. Second, unless we want a Eurabia in the U.S. - FIX THE BORDER! Third, we need to stop trying to make Katie Courric our friend and start getting things done. Fourth, Christian Conservatives – you need to get out and vote in primaries and general elections I don’t care HOW mad you are, not voting is ineffective.

Inspite of the negative, there were many highlights of 2006. One of the more prominent and most recent is justice being served in Iraq. I remember the words “We Got Him” spoken on December 14th 2003 at the start of my church service. Then on December 29, 2006 justice was served and the world is now less one evil terrorist dictator.

2006 was also a growing year spiritually. God has continued to reveal Himself and little pieces of His plan for my life to me over this last year. Amazing doors have opened; one major door is interning at my State capitol during legislative session with a Representative who is a good Christian and also pro- home school. Working with him is enabling me to do things that I would have been unable to had I been a college student or working for a different representative.

Another great thing that God has done this year is allow me to work on staff with Regenerate Our Culture and interact with like minded teenagers who aren’t the “norm”.

This year has also been an excellent learning year. With Operation Completion, and working on 5 campaigns since May, I’ve learned a lot about working with people and persevering. The phrase “It’s not what you know, it’s who you know” has rung true over and over again.

The year 2006 and six has definitely been my craziest year, and was definitely an interesting year for the world. Let’s take the lessons we learned in 2006 and apply them in 2007.

Happy New Year America!!!

Final Election Update (10)

Wednesday, November 8th, 2006 (Current Events, Government with 6 Comments)

Last night we went to bed wondering what the final out come would be in the United States Congress. This morning, we woke up with the democrats in control and new Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi. The Senate has been reported to be in the democrat’s hands as well. Although I believe we are still waiting for the official results.

Defense Secretary Rumsfeld has also resigned today. The Press conference that the President had today was rough as well.

This was a bad day for conservatives, however , it’s not the end of the world…Yet. Just because we lost congress does not mean that we can no longer make a difference. In fact, now more than ever is the time we need to get involved. We also need to remember that the key to changing our Nation lies in 2nd Chronicles 7:14.
