Questions Never Asked Part 2

Monday, March 12th, 2007 (Culture, Questions Never Asked with 6 Comments)

Absurdities illustrate themselves once again in the State of Georgia.

Governor Perdue announced that he will sign the bill requiring middle school aged girls to get the HPV vaccine as soon as it gets out of the General Assembly. Simultaneously, the abortion ban (HB1) is still in the House Judiciary Committee.

What is this saying?

We’ll let our youth “go play in traffic” because they’re wearing a helmet. Yet, when it comes to protecting the unborn we turn a blind eye. What are we thinking?

“Real People, Real Problems” Yeah, Like Decadency.

Recently, my mom has been watching alot of “Court” shows. Of course, they all say that it involves “Real people with real problems”. After watching the show, I can see exactly why they say that - the cases presented are absurd!

Just watching these cases makes you wonder where our nation is going, if these are indeed “real people with real problems” or if they are just desperate people wanting to get on national television?

Before we go into anything deeper, the shows that my mom watches everyday as we fold the laundry are:

Judge Judy, Judge Joe Brown and Divorce Court.

Now I have nothing against anyone watching the shows, or the judges themselves. In fact, I don’t have anything against the people that go on the show with their cases. Rather, these cases should provide a wake up call to all level headed Americans. I am reluctant to say that there is anything more disturbing to watch than the decadent way of thinking presented in these trials.

This decadency is the result of the problem. We have been “dumbed down” in our education and thought throughout the last few decades. If these are really “real people with real problems” then the future of America is in over their heads. This decadency in thought and actions can be overcome. However, like Reagan said “There are no easy answers but there are simple answers. We must have the courage to do what we know is morally right.”

The answer to solving this problem isn’t easy, but it is simple. The only way to avoid decadency and decline in thought is to go back to The Word. Then, and only then can we overcome the decadency so prominent in our culture today.

Questions Never Asked

Saturday, February 3rd, 2007 (Current Events, Culture, Questions Never Asked with 10 Comments)

Whenever I watch the local news or read the headlines in the various online news sources, I tend to notice that there are many questions never asked. Recently Texas passed a law that makes 11 year old girls receive injections for cervical Cancer/HPV virus mandatory if they want to be in school. What wasn’t mentioned in the report I saw on my local station was that the HPV virus is a sexually transmitted disease that causes cervical cancer. Throughout the sound-bite they naturally talk about how good of an idea it is. However they failed to ask:

What are the side effects of the decision?

What is this saying to little kids?

Unfortunately no one seems to be thinking this issue through. Telling your daughter she needs to get a shot for cervical cancer at 11 is like giving her birth control and walking off saying “they’re gonna do it anyway”. Sadly, too many people do this already.

Ultimately what this mindset is telling my generation is: “Okay hunny, We don’t want you to have relations before your time (marriage) but if you do here’s what you should have”. That reaction is not communicating love to a young adult. Rather it is a display of apathy in one of it’s worst forms - indifference. For a parent to be indifferent about their child’s life is telling their child that they don’t care.

While seemingly teens may want their parents not to interfere - you know you’re cared about when your parents sit you down and explain why abstinence is necessary rather than just giving you a pill.

Was venting yesterday, and decided to record a piece I had written a while back. You can listen to it here.
Also, be sure to check out Kingdom Advancer’s blog, he’s talking about a very interesting issue over there.

Be Thankful!

Be Thankful

As Americans we have a lot to be thankful for. Some people forget the meaning of thanksgiving, and overlook the things they’re thankful for. Sometimes the simplest things in life are the most overlooked, yet are the most important. So here is the list of what I’m thankful for:

Christ, for without Him, I wouldn’t be here.

My Family – They have had to put up with more of my antics than anyone and love me anyway.

My friends – few and far between, most times out of State. They’ll fight for me or die trying. I appreciate and thank God for each and every one of them!

The United States military and the price they have paid to give us the Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave!

May we never forget this precious gift.

These are a few of the things I’m thankful for. The question is: what are YOU thankful for?
