2007. It’s interesting how so many things can change in a year.
Politically:
We managed to survive with a Democrat controlled congress, and the surge in Iraq is working despite popular opinion.
We’ve had the earliest election season in history, and it just keeps getting more interesting.
Personally:
I somehow went from a career minded conservative, to accepting and developing a passion for the God ordained role of womanhood. Now at almost 17, I’m looking back on who I am and who I was, and have no one to thank but God for loving me so much and changing my heart. I’ve gone from being a legislative aid, to being a big sister for the 8th time, to courting my best friend, and trying to do what He sets in front of me to do.
Looking Ahead:
2008 promises to be an interesting year. For me personally, it’s going to be full of challenges. Figuring out how to deal with emotions is a totally new concept to me. A year ago, I would never have imagined that I would have been stretched and grown so much, I wouldn’t have thought that I would be courting, or taking trips to Maine, or even bowing out of grassroots campaigning indefinitely - especially with an election coming up. What seemed so inconceivable last year, has become accepted. In the words of Stellar Kart’s “Finish Last”:
People change and plans get changed and everything changes but You, everybody moves around and everything gets pushed around but You. You always stay the same…
So heading into 2008, the biggest thing for me to remember is - everything changes, but God never will.
