It kind of reminds me of a lot of the preachers we see today who seem to want to promise "health and wealth" for anyone who becomes a Christian. While I have no doubt that God will bless us, it is obvious that scary stuff does happen. But, Alex hit it on the head, God uses these scary times to teach Christians many lessons.
